Most of us have seen the sudden flash of red and blue in our rear view mirrors as we drive, unaware of what we just did wrong. Usually the cop walks up to your window with hand on his gun at his side as is standard procedure, and usually your offense is a small infraction like speeding or expired registration. In most cases the police officer will politely write you a ticket accordingly.

If you’ve seen worlds craziest police chases on TV you’ll know that common traffic stops can sometimes turn into life or death or the chase of a lifetime for a police officer or state trooper. The officer never know when a seemingly calm or quiet driver can turn into the road warrior from hell.

One retired state trooper gave an account to convey a sense of what actually happens at a traffic stop from the cop’s point of view..

The retired state trooper spent 12 years patrolling the highways leading in and out of Las Vegas, which, granted, is a more “colorful” city than most — but the basics are the same, he said.

“The first thing you always take into consideration is your own safety and…
