Model Brooklyn Decker graces the cover of the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
Being chosen for the front is “the news of a lifetime.” the 22 year old model and wife of tennis star Andy Roddick said.
The cover photo is less risque than some covers of SI in past years. Brooklyn Decker sports a yellow bikini and reluctant pose reminiscent of past covers from the 1980s or ’90s with such models as Elle Macpherson.
The photo and cover were tightly guarded and kept secret from Decker and all models until less than 24 hours before it’s revealed. Now Decker only has to worry about the media spotlight and frenzy that comes with the coveted cover.
Believe it or not, the stunning blonde supermodel is a diehard sports fan who ran hurdles for the high school track team, played soccer and participated in competitive cheerleading as a teenager in North Carolina. She stays fit simply by being active and eating sensibly, but a naturally fast metabolism also helps in her case.
“I still don’t know the formula for the cover,” she added. “It’s luck, the perfect suit and perfect storm to get it.”
Decker is more excited about Sports Illustrated over many other magazines because they encourage a natural look — less makeup, toned muscles, curvy shape. This makes it much easier for a great photograph. “This celebrates the girls and their personalities. I think it’s why they get such beautiful pictures”, said Decker.
